HEY I AM DAKA DAVID
4 years ago, after graduating from Kennesaw State University, I took a bold leap of faith and decided to dive headfirst into the world of photography and videography full time. This was probably one of the scariest decisions I had ever made but I knew my dreams were too big for school and I was relentless to pursue my passion.
Little did I know the path I had chosen would be filled with unexpected challenges and setbacks. Through countless hours behind the camera, in the dark honing my skills and pushing the boundaries of my creativity I was able to overcome all the setbacks and elevate to heights I never imagined. I thought the only way I could make 6 figures was becoming a doctor and having to go through countless years of school. Through my consistency I was able to tap into my niche and break that 6 figure ceiling in my career.
Driven by my desire to give back and help others achieve similar levels of success, I have launched the Certified Shooters Community. This community serves as a platform for upcoming and seasoned professionals who are looking to learn, grow and thrive in their own cinematic pursuits. I believe in sharing knowledge, supporting each other and nurturing a collaborative environment. I want us all to break through barriers and create fulfilling careers in this field.
You don't need to be a jack of all trades to build a successful career
You don't need to learn everything to become successful, what you need is to get the right information, build the right systems and execute. As cinematographers, we start off in our career trying to learn every software, learn animations, learn every camera system and become everything.
What you need to do is master a niche and master the art of selling yourself. Master the art of building a brand that sells itself.
You can have all the creative skills in the world but no work or money to show for it.

When you are chasing your dreams and looking to go full time with your passion, there will always be bumps and hurdles you have to overcome, it is going to be hard. But it's much easier to manage and bear when you are surrounded by a community and people on the same journey as you. It is very important to stay consistent and connected and you will go further than you ever thought possible.
You can go fast alone or far together
I have had several mentors when I started and they have all helped me in my journey somehow, from teaching me different skills like how to use a gimbal to teaching me about contracts, how to charge, or just being a listening ear to my current struggles. It was very helpful to be surrounded by people who were where I was trying to go and I was able to cut down the amount of time it would have taken me to reach where I am today.

I have had a lot of challenges, setbacks, losing all my equipment and having to start over but what got me through was my consistency and discipline. Having that strong foundation and mindset allowed me to be strong and keep going. Always taking it one step at a time.
I want to help you stay consistent and disciplined, holding you accountable to chase your goals, dreams and passion. Having the ability to go through the business building phase and feel like you are in control regardless of the current numbers in your bank account.
